Willie Hall : STAX Alumni

STAX drummer, Willie Hall, started at STAX in 1968, with the BarKays.  In 1969, when I arrived at STAX, we immediately became good friends.  I was invited to join the BarKays, but declined. 

Al Jackson, Jr, of Booker T. and the MGs, was a serious, lifelong influence on Willie.  In fact, so much so, that most of the time, you couldn't attempt to tell the difference between them.  Unless you saw the session, you might never know for sure. 

I was fortunate enough to work with both of these superb drummers at STAX.  It just doesn't get any better - noway, nowhere, nohow.
